Tea with the Bride to Be...

My friends, Kevin and Jen, recently got married in Hawaii and this Saturday is their reception so I thought it would be appropriate to tell you about Jen's tea party bridal shower.

Now I can't take a whole lot of credit for this one - it was team effort! But, it is definitely worth me sharing it here for you see what cute things we came up with.

First the theme, a tea party - pretty easy to find cute ideas online but not all of them keep the budget in mind so we made some of the ideas our own :) Of course the invitation was tea party themed and in her colors - purples and white. I ordered them for a great price on vistaprint - there were 47 people invited so I wanted to be sure we found a reasonable invite.

For decorations we again Googled bridal shower tea party and our favorite ideas came from Martha Stewarts website. We found the tea cups and saucers at Goodwill and stacked them in the middle of the tables. We also decided to go with hydrangeas and daisies for elegance. We put baby roses in the tea cups on the top of the stack just to add a little something. We put sheets of patterned scrapbook paper under the vases and tea cup stacks for a focal point.  For the favors we bought purple doilies sheets from Michaels and wrapped "Dad's Cookies" in them.

For this shower the Mother of the Groom and Sister of the Groom were gracious enough to provide catered food from a local grocery store. It was yummy and very easy! If you have the budget - catered food keeps things easy. Easy prep, easy set up, and easy clean up. The Maid of Honor made all the desserts - they were so fancy!

We set up a tea bar for everyone to choose their own flavors of tea and make it the way they like it. It worked out great - we decided to use real tea cups in order to dress it up a bit. We had sugar cubes, honey, milk and Splenda to add to the tea. We also provided mimosas!

I found a cute bridal bingo board game on this printable games site - I filled it in with things that were bought off her registry.

(Tablecloths, utensils, plates and cups from the Dollar Store. Napkins and Stirrers from Party City. Scrapbook paper, purple flower confetti and cookie doilies from Michaels.)

Thanks Jen for letting me feature your shower!!!
